Research Interests
In the medical field, the rise of machine learning has created numerous opportunities to assist practitioners in effectively diagnosing patients with various diseases. This not only enhances patient comfort but also addresses the shortage of certain specialists. One example is skin lesion surgeries aimed at removing cancerous tissue. In many cases, the absence of a pathologist during surgery necessitates multiple surgeries for the same patient. One of my research goals is to address this challenge by leveraging machine learning models to partially serve as the role of a pathologist during surgery.
While "classical" machine learning approaches have been extensively explored in the medical domain, multi-modal methods may hold untapped potential. A large language model’s conceptual understanding of medical practices could complement and improve the performance of existing classifiers. Exploring how to unlock this potential is the primary focus of my research.
Supervision of Theses
For the summer semester 2025, I am already at full capacity with supervisions and won't supervise further theses. If you're interested in writing a thesis during WS25/26, just send me an e-mail!
